What is Master Data Management (MDM)?

Master data management makes it easier to find your data — especially useful when you’ve got lots, and lots, and lots of data. Watch to learn what MDM is and how it can be beneficial to businesses.

Master data management, or MDM for short, is a process that creates a uniform set of data on customers, products, suppliers, and other business entities from IT systems. Data information can vary from department to department within a single enterprise, so MDM consolidates this data from multiple sources into a standard format.

MDM is integral to the overall data management process. It helps improve data quality by ensuring identifiers and other key data elements are accurate and consistent across the entire enterprise. This makes data retrieval much easier.

I think it would have been good to hear about what are approaches to solve this problem vs. stating the goal and desires. I think MDM is a high in the sky goal that is obvious but the challenge is all in the details of how to get towards that goal.
